First Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Bolat Bekniyaz made a report during the Government session under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of RK Olzhas Bektenov on the issue of providing water supply services to urban and rural settlements.
As of today, there are 39 group water pipelines in the republican ownership, serviced by RSE "Nura group water pipeline" and RSE "Kazvodkhoz". Their length is 15 thousand kilometres, 660 settlements with a population of more than 1.4 million people are provided with water supply.
"In order to ensure quality water supply to rural population in settlements, we carry out construction and reconstruction of water pipelines. Thus, for 40.6 billion tenge 29 projects are being implemented in 9 regions of the country. In Akmola, Atyrau, Almaty, Ulytau, Kyzylorda, Mangistau, Turkestan, West Kazakhstan region and North Kazakhstan region," Bolat Bekniyaz reported.
According to him, as a result of these projects it is planned to reconstruct and build 2 thousand kilometres of water pipelines, which will provide water supply to 437 settlements. Centralised water supply will be connected to 44 of them.
Another 5 projects are under development and are awaiting state expertise. These are 2 projects on reconstruction of the Nura group water pipeline, as well as construction of sites of water supply facilities and distribution networks from the Kaskelen group water pipeline in Almaty region, construction of headworks of the Saryagash group water pipeline in Turkestan region. Their implementation will improve water supply to 200 settlements.
Due to the extremely worn-out condition of the Nura group water pipeline, the issue of water supply in Yegindykol and Korgalzhyn districts of Akmola province is acute. To address the issue, 1.8 billion tenge has been allocated from the Government's reserve. The work is scheduled to be completed in August this year. It is planned to allocate 3.2 billion tenge for the reconstruction and construction of group water pipeline.
Also within the framework of the instruction of the Head of State, the merger of RSE "Nura group water pipeline" and RSE "Kazvodkhoz" is being finalised. The documents have been sent to the State Property and Privatisation Committee.
"In order to improve the efficiency of water management within the framework of the administrative reform to ensure and organise the livelihood of the local population, the Ministry is transferring group water pipelines to the balance of local executive bodies. Two group water pipelines in Mangystau region have already been transferred," the representative of the Ministry said.
During the year, group water pipelines in Almaty, Atyrau and Aktobe oblasts will be transferred.
